On My Way 03:40
Seven years ago I went away To see a Cornish friend and have a stay Seven years later, nothing left to say Home again, home again, I’m on my way I’ve had enough of Cornish blokes Cornish ogres and Cornish jokes Tired of talking to my Cornish friends And eating nothing but Cornish hens Home again, home again, home again, I’m on my way Seven years ago I left my home Forgot my toothbrush, forgot my comb Got the seven-year-itch and the urge to roam I headed down the highway like a rolling stone Had enough of Cornish blokes Cornish ogres and corn ball jokes Tired of listening to my Cornish friends And sleeping in their Cornish dens Home again, home again, home again I’m on my way

Flowers like stars in the soft green grass Fragrant and fragile on the primrose path Blossoms in Springtime of pink and pearl Peaches in Summer for boys and girls Oh, how happy we are here All the children would say We could stay here forever after Oh, how happy we are here today Deep flowing fountains and rainbow spray Water that giggles and runs away Bubbling voices, a tumble of words Mingled with laughter, the singing of birds Oh, how happy we are here All the children would say We could stay here forever after Oh, how happy we are here today Soft cooling breezes on bright red cheeks Foxes and squirrels play hide and seek Skipping and jumping and round we go Rest by the brook as the shadows grow

Anyone can see, everyone should understand A giant’s castle is his home Anyone can see, is it hard to understand A giant should be left alone What are you doing here (Go on, go on, get out of here) Who let you in (Go on, go on, go on and run in fear) Go ahead and run in fear (Go on, go on, get out of here) Don’t come back again What is it to be, do I have to build a wall A giant’s garden is his own What is it to be, can’t you read the sign A giant should be left alone What are you doing here (Go on, go on, get out of here) Who let you in (Go on, go on, go on and run in fear) Go on! Get out of here (Go on, go on, get out of here) Don’t come back again

He was a very selfish giant So the children had no place to play It seemed he only loved the giant In his lovely garden, lonely he would stay The children played on the dusty road But it was rough and full of stones So they wandered round the garden wall And they wept for what he had done He was a very selfish giant So the children had no place to play It seemed he only loved the giant In his lovely garden, lonely he would stay The children played on the mountainside But it was covered with thorns So they gazed out toward the garden wall If only he had never come home
6.
Spring didn’t come, Spring did not come Not to the garden, Spring did not come Birds didn’t sing, tress did not bloom Without the children there is nothing but gloom Everywhere else the country is green Outside the walls there are flowers to be seen Up on the hills hear the buzzing of bees Little lambs play under blossoming trees Spring didn’t come, Spring did not come Not to the garden, Spring did not come Birds didn’t sing, tress did not bloom Without the children there is nothing but gloom
7.
Mr. Frost: Dear Mrs. Snow, hey, did you hear I’ve found a place we can play all year Mrs. Snow: Dear Mr. Frost, isn’t it grand a wonderful change from our usual travel plans And You, you paint silver the trees With your crystalline breeze), the willow and oak And I, I will cover the ground And the garden around, with my lovely white cloak Mr. Frost: Dear Mrs. Snow, hey, did you hear I’ve found a place we can play all year Mrs. Snow: Dear Mr. Frost, isn’t it grand a wonderful change from our usual travel plans And You, you paint silver the trees With your crystalline freeze, the willow and oak And I, I will cover the ground And the garden around, with my lovely white cloak
8.
I hope there will be a change in the weather I hope it will be a change for the better I can’t understand why Spring is so late There’s frost on the trees and ice on the gate A slow moving Spring is one thing I hate I can’t understand why Spring is so late Spring didn’t come to the garden this year Spring didn’t come to the garden, oh no Spring didn’t come to the garden this year Spring didn’t come to the garden, oh no I hope there will be a change in the weather ‘Cause Spring didn’t come this year
9.
Hail: Here we are crashing this party Wind: Here we are just getting started Hail:)
I’ll rattle the roof three hours a day Clatter and crash ‘til I’ve broken the slates Wind: I’ll roar all day round the garden wall Huff and puff ‘til the chimneys fall Wind & Hail: What a delightful spot you have found for us all (Wind and Hail and Frost and Snow) What a delightful spot you have found for us all (Wind and Hail and Frost and Snow)

Winter Comes 01:36

Giant: I haven’t seen the sun in many a moon I hope the Spring will come soon It’s so cold and so dark in my soul I’ve forgotten what happiness is I am frozen in time in this castle of mine Can’t remember my reason to live I have been locked up inside for many a moon I wish the Spring would come soon I was sure I should be left alone I remember that flowers once bloomed I am here by the fire but my one heart’s desire To remember how my laughter boomed I haven’t seen a soul in many a moon I need for Spring to come soon

What A Day! 00:29
Giant: What a day, what a scene Am I awake, is this a dream Throw back the shutters, open the door Out to the garden that I adore To walk on grass instead of stone cold floors What a day!
16.
Snow: There must be a loose stone, there must be a hole Somehow Spring has gotten in to play Frost: They must miss it so much to brave our frost and snow To overcome their fear of him and sneak in anyway Chorus: (And now) Music is in the air (In the air) Music in everywhere (Everywhere) Driving out the despair (Driving out the despair) A little bird sings Hope comes on wings Laughter is ringing, ringing there Music is in the air Giant: What do I hear, what’s this I see What is that smell, Oh, mercy me Could it be Could it be Spring has come to rescue me Wind: Climbing into every tree I see a little child And everywhere they run a flower blooms Hail: Drifting through his window, a breeze so soft and warm The smell of Spring is getting in like wonderful perfume
17.
Reach! 02:07
Giant: What’s that there, there in that corner One tree is frozen, snow all around Look right there, little boy crying He should be climbing, he’s stuck on the ground Tree: Reach! Reach! (Reach up higher) Just a little bit higher I know you can make it if you try once again Reach! Reach! (Reach up higher) Just a little bit higher I’m so tired of Frost and Snow And tired of Hail and Wind He’s too small, he just can’t make it North Wind is blowing, roaring around He’s to sad, look how he’s crying He should be trying, he’s stuck on the ground Giant: Reach! Reach! (Reach down lower) Just a little bit lower I know yo can reach him if you try once again Reach! Reach! (Reach down lower) Just a little bit lower I’m so tired of Frost and Snow And tired of Hail and Wind
18.
The Giant’s heart melted He looked at the scene The little boy crying his doleful keen The North Wind howled so harsh and mean “How selfish,” he said, “how selfish I’ve been”
19.
Everbody Run 03:04
Giant: Softly down the stairs Quietly the door Maybe they won’t notice me Tiptoe up the path Stay close to the wall Moving oh so silently Maybe I can reach him Help him get into that tree Children: Giant! Giant! Everybody run Giant! Giant! No more time for fun Giant! Giant! Get down from that tree Giant! Giant! Hurry up and flee We thought maybe he had died Haven’t seen him once outside Maybe he had gone away Thought it was our lucky Might have been our lucky Wish it was our lucky day
20.
Boy: We came to laugh We Came to sing Came right in and With us the Spring I want to climb into a tree but No one will help me I cannot see I cannot hear Howling wind Freezes my tears Everyone climbed into a tree but No one would help me Won’t someone please help me
21.
22.
Giant: Don’t be afraid I would not hurt you Into my hands Come, I will lift you Don’t mind the wind Don’t mind the hail Don’t mind the Frost and Snow They’ve got to go ‘Cause My garden is your garden I’ll never make you go My garden is your playground It will always bo so Boy: Listen, the birds They’ve started singing Look at the trees Blossoms are blooming They’ve gone away I’m not afraid One kiss from me to you Your Winter’s through ‘Cause Your garden is our garden You’ll never make us go Your garden is our playground It will always be so
23.
Giant: I’m glad you all came back And I hope that you will stay We’re gonna have some fun It’s gonna start today Tearing down the wall Tearing down the wall Tearing down, tearing down the wall Tearing down, tearing down the wall I used to be so mean You know, I always was that way You’re gonna find a friend I’m gonna learn to play Tearing down the wall Tearing down the wall Tearing down, tearing down the wall Tearing down, tearing down the wall And won’t the grownups be surprised Can’t wait to see the look That we’ll see in their eyes And don’t you think They’ll thin it strange That such a wicked giant Could really change Tearing down the wall Tearing down the wall Tearing down the wall Tearing down the wall
24.
Dancing in daisies and up in the trees Were dozens of girls and boys There in the grass on hands and knees The giant’s face beamed with joy While children were playing things started to bloom Everything came so green Soon it became A garden of fame The most beautiful ever seen Dancing in daisies and up in the trees Were dozens of girls and boys There in the grass on hands and knees The giant’s face beamed with joy When people were going to market at noon They got such a sweet surprise They stopped and they stared Nothing compared To the wonder that met their eyes Dancing in daisies and up in the trees Were dozens of girls and boys There in the grass on hands and knees The giant’s face beamed with joy All day long they played And in the evening they Came sadly to bid him goodbye “Come again,” he’d say “You won’t keep us away” And it was so hard not to cry Chorus:
25.
Giant: Before you leave Oh, tell me please Where is the boy I put into the tree Make sure he comes Tomorrows fine And we will play And pass the time Where is the boy Who kissed me on the cheek That little boy Was not afraid of me Tell him to come Tell him to come Tell him to come Children: He didn’t stay He’s gone away We never saw that boy before today Perhaps he’ll come Just give him time ‘Til then we’ll play And pass the time Giant: Where is the boy Who kissed me on the cheek That little boy Was not afraid of me Tell him to come Tell him to come Tell him to come
26.
Everyday in the afternoon He lays his work aside Listening for school house bells And when they start to chime Children run to meet him He’s waiting at the gate And there within his garden He stays until it’s late Everyday in the afternoon The children come to call He loves his many flowers but The Children most of all Every day he’d watch the gate Light a candle when it’s late But where’s the boy who kissed him first The one who loved him at his worst Years go by he’s getting older Summers hotter Winters colder He’s still longing for his friend He never saw that boy again Everyday in the Afternoon He watches as they play And even after all these years He loves it just that way
27.
He spends more time alone here in the Winter But now that seasons turn it’s not so bad Everything takes just a little longer Aging bones complain but he’s not sad Suddenly he rubs his eyes in wonder Certainly this is a wondrous sight In the farthest corner of the garden He sees a golden tree all bathed in light Silver fruit and golden branches Fragrant flowers pearly white Someone’s there someone is calling Come to the garden Come to me Come to me Come to the garden and see There beneath that tree stands another He rubs his eyes again how could it be Is this the boy he lovingly remembers Can old eyes be so sure of what they see Silver fruit and golden branches Fragrant blossoms pearly white Someone’s there he hears him calling Come to the garden Come to me Come to me Come to the garden and see Down the stairs he runs with steps like thunder Aches and pains forgotten for awhile Out across the snow into the garden He hastens ‘til he draws near to the child
28.
Somebody get me my sword Somebody get me my sword Not even sure Where it is anymore Somebody get me my sword Who, who did this to you Tell me boy And I’ll cut him in two Look, look at your feet There in your hands Who could hurt someone so sweet Who did this to you
29.
Boy: Oh no my friend These are the wounds of love Let anger end These are the wounds of love Giant: Am I asleep or are you really real I don’t know who you are or what to feel I dreamed of you a million times before It only makes me wonder more Boy: I played here once before A garden oh so nice Now come with me My garden’s Paradise Giant: I think I know now who you really are I’ve seen your face in every morning star You make me weak and this is strange somehow I have to kneel I have to bow Boy: Don’t be afraid I would not hurt you Into my hands come I will lift you My garden is your garden I’ll never make you go Don’t be afraid I would not hurt you Into my hands come I will lift you My garden is your playground It will always be so
